Ne THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM 0 UJ (\ C | [ | MEMORANDUM MAR 4 {982 TO: B.R. Kirk February 24th, 1982 City Administrator FROM: R.A. Freeman City Clerk SUBJECT: Aerial Spraying of Blueberry crops. RECOMMENDATION: That Council give consideration to the following resolution: "That approval be hereby given to Crop Care Aviation Limited to operate aireraft below elevated regulations in the City of Port Coquitlam during che three months of March, April, May, 1982 for the purpose of applying Triforine (Funginex) to blueberry crops for the control of mummy berry." BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS : The above noted recommendation was presented to Council on November 16th, 1981 and at that time the Council indicated a desire to receive further technical informacion respecting Triforine and the material we have been able to gather is attached to this memorandum. With reference to the letter from the District Horticulturist of the Ministry of Agriculture to Mrs. Vera Harvey under date of July 16th, 1981 Council will doubtlessly note his statement that blueberry production in the Fraser Valley would likely be reduced to ~ sub-economic level if Triforine was not available for the control of mummy berry disease and that aerial spraying is the only effective application method during the time this chemical must, apparently, be applied.
