Proposed opening dates for big game hunting in Skeena | Proposed opening dates for the 1987/88 big game hunting season in British Colum-. bia have been released by the provincial Wildlife Branch, Ministry of Environment _and Parks. The dates listed are preliminary and subject to change, but they are sufficiently reliable to permit hunters and guides to. plan hunting trips with some confidence. The complete hunting regulations are published in July. Most openings remain unchanged from last year. Among the few exceptions are deer, goat and fall black bear seasons in Regions 1 and 2, which will all open six days later than in 1986. a . In the Skeena sub-region, mountain, goat will be closed to hunting in management unit 6-2, at the north end of Tweedémuir Park, because of the low population of goats there. In the same sub-region, caribou hunters will be permitted to take only trophy bulls, and Limited Entry Hunting for caribou will be retained only for Spatsizi Park and part of the Kawdy area where access is easier. —— Unless changes are shown in the schedule, hunters should presume that all special areas, closed areas and no shooting areas in effect last year will remain, and that limited entry hunts similar to those in effect in the 1986/87 season are again being considered for 1987/88. Detailed information regarding limited entry hunts will be. available by mid-May. _ News © Get your message. ~ Communication across to readers.
