Dear Mayor Traboulay:

A proposal by the Canadian Real Estate Association, which would allow first time home
buyers to use their RRSP contributions a8 a down payment, is now before the Minister
of Finance, the Honourable Don Mazankowski.

A copy of a letter we at NRS, National Real Estate Service, have sent to the Minister is
attached indicating our view and support on this issue. Since this initiative was first
announced, it has been garnering more attention and support as the weeks have gone by.

It is becoming obvious to us in the industry that young Canadians would appreciate this
method of help to achieve their goal of ownership. Therefore, we are writing to you to
ask your support for this proposal wherever possible.

With the acknowledged favour of community leaders such as yourself, we feel it will
spur the government to also look with more interest to implementing this proposal by
CREA. We also ask for the support of your Council and ask that you kindly pass this
letter to them.
