Canada Jeunesse World Canada Youth Nonde UNIQUE INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUTH 21-29! Canada World Youth (CWY), the Sri Lanka Canada Development Fund (SLCDF) and South Asia Partnership, Canada (SAP) have developed a unique, non-formal education and training project in community based development and research for youth from Canada and Sri Lanka. There will be eight Canadian and eight Sri Lankan youths on the program that will take place between July and December 2000 (2.5 months in Atlantic Canada 2.5 months in Sri Lanka). The participants will gain a greater understanding of development issues in Canada and Sri Lanka, acquire valuable work experience in community development, community based research and documentation skills, public speaking and education techniques. This is a volunteer program. The participants’ expenses while on the program (food, lodging, transportation, pocket money) are covered by Canada World Youth. To qualify for the program you must: - be between 19 and 29; - bea Canadian citizen or Landed Immigrant; - have experience working or volunteering in an NGO or community-based organization; - have an interest, experience or training, in program evaluation and research techniques, and program planning/implementation; - possess the interpersonal and intercultural skills necessary to live and work effectively in another culture, including a motivation for learning the host community language; - have the capacity to fundraise ($2000); - pass the medical screening process.
