THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM ENVIRONMENTAL PR~ON COMMIITEE MINUTES A meeting of the E.P.C. was held at City Hall, 2580 Shaughnessy Street, Port Coquitlam, Wednesday, October 13, 1993 at 8:30 a.m. in Committee Room tt3. Minutes of previous meeting held on Wednesday, September 29, 1993 were considered, read and adopted. In attendance were: Councillor J.J. Keryluk, Chairman Councillor M. Thompson, Co-Chairman J.E. Yip, P. Eng., Deputy City Engineer F. Cheung, P. Eng., Project Engineer ITEM L WOOD SHAVINGS FROM NIMBUS Received for information. This issue will be discussed at the Parks and Recreation Committee. ITEM IL KENNAMEPAL INC The memo from the Mayor dated September 29, 1993 was considered. Following discussion, it was concluded that the Committee cannot support Kennametal's proposal because of the lack of information. It was noted that issues such as insurance requirements and what assurance is there that the P.C.B. material will not remain in Port Coquitlam have not been identified. A draft memo in response to this issue, to be prepared for committees consideration. ITEM IIL PROPOSED 2 YEAR CAPITAL PROGRAM The committee reviewed the proposed Environmental 94/95 Capital Budgets. The Committee was supportive however, recommended that a more detailed report be prepared identifying the various cost components. Also it was suggested that offset cost, diversion expectations, community involvement, anticipated operational cost etc. be identified. This information to be provided at the upcoming budget discussions and presentations. ITEM IVt OTHER BUSINESSt A) B.C. Environmental letter Project Engineer provided a draft copy of the newsletter for Committee's consideration. The Committee approved the newsletter. The Project Engineer noted that it is anticipated the newsletter will be distributed within the next week or two. B) Mr. J. Van der Pauw, Principal - Assumption School Councillor Keryluk received a letter from Mr. V. Van der Pauw, Principal of Assumption School requesting information on what his school can do with respect to recycling.
