July 20th, 1981. A special meeting of the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam to discuss the use of herbicides by the City was held in the Council Chamber, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2272 McAllister Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B.C. on July 20th, 1981 at 7:30 p.m. Mayor G.R. Laking (from 8:20 p.m.), Acting-Mayor M.D. Gates, Aldermen J.J. Keryluk, A.K. Muldoon, L.M. Traboulay and M.R. Wright in attendance. Also in attendance were Chief Administrative Officer G.H. Sawada, Fire Chief W.S. Wingrove, Deputy Fire Chief J.N. Boileau, City Engineer F.E. Peters, P. Eng., Assistant City Engineer T. Chong, P. Eng., City Treasurer J.G.S. Maitland, and Mrs. D.L. Vyse. Acting-Mayor M.D. Gates called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm. (His Worship Mayor G.R. Laking took the Chair upon his arrival at 8:20 p.m.) City Treasurer J.G.S. Maitland advised the first order of business was a report from the Society for Pollution and Environmental Control (SPEC). Acting-Mayor Gates advised Ms. Kathy Fox, representative From SPEC had been delayed. Moved by Alderman Keryluk: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That Ttem No. 1 on the Agenda regarding a report from SPEC be deferred. Carried. The City Treasurer advised the second item on the Agenda was a report from Mrs. Thelma McAdam. Acting~Mayor Gates advised Mrs. McAdam had been delayed. Moved by Alderman Keryluk: Seconded by Alderman Muldoon: That Item No. 2 on the Agenda regarding a report from Mrs.. Thelma McAdam be deferred. Carried. Acting-Mayor Gates then introduced Dr. F.J. Blatherwick, Director of the Simon Fraser Health Unit who then made a presentation to Council regarding the report prepared by C.R. Campin, M.B.B.S., Assistant Director of the Simon Fraser Health Unit, and was able to answer questions from the Council regarding this report.
