"THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM . 7 . _ 2 _ ITEM II =~ Continued The results of one-year experiment turned out very well. Our cost per ton of refuse collected went down in 1979 to $34.65 from the 1978 figure of $38.95. However, because of the increased tonnage picked up, the cost per pickup did not decrease as drastically. Nevertheless, we still had.a reduction of over $2.00 in the cost per pickup which went from $42.86 in 1978 to $40.52 in 1979. We have discussed the continuation of this system with the CUPE Bargaining Committee and have obtained their agreement on an extension of. the terms of the agreement. The Committee recommends that Council approve of the extension of the agreement and that the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to sign for the City. A copy of the 1979 agreement and the proposed -form of extension is attached for your information. . Respectfully submitted, Be F.E. eters, P. Eng., FEP/vw City Engineer. Attached - =
