wx COUNC JAN 15 1979. Mayor and Council January 12th, 1979 L.D. Pollock vity Administrator RE: Alignment of Mary Hill By-pass at the Coquitlam River Attached is a letter from the Greater Vancouver Regional District Planning Department bringing to our attention their concerns about the alignment of the Mary Hill By—-pass through Colony Farm. A map is attached showing their suggestions as to an alternate route which, in their opionion, reduces the environmental impact. I have received comments from the City Planner and Engineer and they both feel that the alternate alignment proposed does not affect the City of Port Coquitlam. You.will note that the proposed alignment swings back onto the original alignment at the bottom of Mary Hill Road and the area affected is apparently a cottonwood swamp. It would appear that usable farm land on the Coquitlam side is quite drastically affected. If the G.V.R.D. wish to pursue this realignment with the Department of Highways, it would not have too great effect on the City of Port Coquitlam. You will note that the last paragraph of the letter states that if there is agreement between the two Municipal Councils, Municipal action can follow. This would seem to indicate that G.V.R.D. wish us to pick the ball and have the route changed. In any event, the change in route in accordance with the attached sketch would not drastically affect the City of Port Coquitiam. LD. Pollock LDP /w attach:
