5.4. Pitt River Road at McLean Avenue

This intersection is in reasonable condition. However, some modifications should be considered

to improve overall Operation.

1.0. ‘Replace primary signal head (northbound) on pedestal,

The existing overhead signals are as per the recommended display size, however the backboards

are green. This is not standard but it is adequate and replacement is not necessary. The signal
pedestal with the primary signal head controlling the Pitt River Road access from the south is
difficult to see. This is mainly to due to the small head size as well as the lack of a backboard.
‘This signal head should be upgraded to a 300 mm RED and 200 mm YELLOW and GREEN

complete with a yellow backboard.

2.0 Supply and Installation of audible pedestrian units and repair pushbuttons.-
