O8 August, 1984 Mr. Chong Assistant Engineer City of Port Coquitiam I am writing with respect to the conversation which took place at 1916 Suffolk Avenue on August 8, 1984. at 11:30 a.m. At that time we discussed the filling of certain. ditches, precisely that at the residential area on the west side of Oxford, between Suffolk Avenue and Kern's Chevrolet. As per the original proposal of paving and curbing, we were in agreement fully. However, under = certain budget-cuc the new proposal of filling in the ditches with gravel only WITHOUT curbes. or pavement is strongly cpposed. It is opposed by myself and Mr. Klassen and Mr. Hamilton. The reasons I shall state as fs5llows: Ll. Vehicles. will spread dust and gravel over the aforementioned residential properties. 2. Vehicles will have the opportunity to drive over said properties, causing, damage to lawns, fences, houses, etc. 3e Maintenance would be far greater under the new proposal than even at the present time. These: are the immediate hazards that come to mind. As tax-paying residents and avid supporters. of Port Coquitlam City Council, we understand the preblems of present finances. However, we feel that a half way effort will not solve our problems, ones that we have had t0 contend with for several years now, it may even cause more. i i { i i { ' | | I The main point of this issue if simply that the dizches should be done Properly to conform with the remainder of the street. . If these renovations cannot be done properly at this time, consideration should be given soonesc possible priority. . Please be advised that position on this matter has been discussed in full with Mr. Hamilron (who is unfortunately away on vacation) and Mr. Klassen and they are both very strongly in agreement with myself on this issue, as owners of the proverties. affecred by these ditches.
