Please reference your letter of May 21, 1987 to the New Westminster District Highways Manager requesting signalization of the Mary Hill Bypass/Coast Meridian Road intersection, and our response of July 23, 1987. In our response we indicated Coast Meridian Road would not be signalized but we would investigate the possibility of installing signals at the Mary Hill Bypass/Broadway Street intersection. Broadway Street is a network element and the spacing from the existing signals at Pitt River Road and at Kingsway Avenue would provide better signal progression capabilities than a signal at Coast Meridian Road. We __are now prepared to installa signal at the Mary Hill] Bypass/Broadway Street intersection. subject ta our” normal charing agreement, and the construction of a publie road through the Industrial Park trom Broadway Street to Coast Meridian Road. As both the Ministry and the City are responsible for two of the four. approaches of the intersection, the cost of signal installation and future power and maintenance charges are to be split on a 50/50 basis. Our estimated cost to install a signal at this intersection is $40,000 and the City share would thus be $20,000. LL ABEL GAINEY
