Moore, Head ;re App'n for “Self-Serve. Property Representative of Chevron Canada Limited and Mr. P. Southward, operator of the Whitehall Chevron gas station at 2079 Lougheed Highway. Mr. Moore then addressed Council regarding the application for a business licence to convert the gas station at 2079 Lougheed Highway from a full service gas station to a self~service gas station. Mr. Moore advised there would be six full time employees and two part time employees required for a self-service gas station to operate on a 24-hour basis. Alderman Traboulay spoke against having no service at the gas pumps. Mr. Moore stated the applicant would be prepared to try a split island gas station operation for a six months trial provided Council would agree to a review of the licence and they could come back to Council to apply for a full self-service gas station if the split island proved unsuccessful, Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That application for a business licence to operate a split island gas station at the Whitehall Chevron, 2079 Lougheed Highway, be approved. Carried. Mayor Laking and Aldermen Gates and Wright voted against the resolution. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution Alderman Wright proposed the foi.nwing amendment for Council's consideration. Moved by Alderman Wri, ht: That the application for a business licence for a split island gas station at the Whitehall Chevron, 2079 Lougheed Highway be reviewed after six months. Lost for want of a seconder. Alderman Mabbett clarified that anyone wishing to come before Council for a change in business licence may do so at any time and that iu his opinion an amendment stating a six month review be carried out was not necessary.
