News In Brief Highway cleared WORKERS USED dynamite to clear a rock slide that blocked Hwyl6 between Prince Rupert and Terrace at Carwash Rock for approxi- mately six hours Nov. 22. A huee slab of rock broke off above the highway and shattered into pieces when it hit the road, says highways manager Linda Zurkirchen. The tail end of a passing logging truck was hit, causing ils load to spill over the high- way, she added. There were no injuries to the driver. A night out LOCAL BUSINESSMAN George Munson spent an un- eventful night on Sterling Mountain north of here alter his helicopter flipped while landing in heavy fog. Munson set down after run- ning into the bad weather and was able to radio his condi- tion and location to a second helicopter that was in the area. The pilot had survival gear on board and was rescucd the next moring by another helicopter. A snowmobile res- cue team headed into the area hours after the crash but was forced to turn back due to bad weather. Team members spent the night at a cabin on Ster- ling Mountain.
