THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM TO: Mayor and Council March 29th, 1979 FROM: F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer Re: Mary Hill By-Pass Construction Representatives of the Ministry of Highways and of C.B.A. Engineering were in to see me about the first stage construction of the Mary Hill By-Pass. Contract drawings are almost finalized for the first stage which is intended to go from the Lougheed Highway at the Pitt River Bridge to Broadway Street. The alignment has not changed from the preliminary alignment which Council has seen previously. I am told by the Ministry of Highways that they expect to be able to tender the first contract by May with construction hopefully starting in July. However, so far they have not received funding approval and therefore we cannot be certain that it will go ahead as scheduled. It will be necessary for us to relocate a portion of our Kingsway watermain at Highways cost and we will prohably want to increase the size at the same time in order to be able to better serve the industrial area. Costs for the additional work in oversizing are included in the rates set for the devel- opment cost charge by-law. We will be approaching Council at a later date with specific details and costs. In the meantime, this is just for your information. F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer.
