Mayor & Council August 23rd, 1974 L.D. Pollock, City Administrator At the last meeting of Council Alderman Mabbett requested that the Public Works Committee be contacted for the purpose of making a recommendation regarding parking regulations on McAllister, Whyte, Marpole, and Wilson Avenues West of Shaughnessy Street. The Public Works Committee have had discussions on this: item and Alderman Thompson, Chairman of the Committee, has indicated that he is reluctant to recommend two-hour parking restrictings on these streets in view of the fact that many of the residents park in front of their homes, particularly on Whyte Avenue. The use of signs indicating "Residents Parking Only" are impossible to enforce. Alderman Thompson has requested that as an interim measure that we place a notice on each of the cars parked in these locations asking the driver's co-operation in using the existing City-owned parking lots and advising that we do not wish to institute two-hour parking; however, that we will have to do so if co-operation is not received. The above action will be taken and the situation will be monitored over next few weeks and a further report will be made to Council at that time. CC em City Administrator
