Project Literacy ‘Terrace has just completed an application for fund- ing through the Department of the Secretary of State (of Canada). If |‘ gtanted, the $25,500 from Secre- . . tary of State plus $25,000 from the Ministry of Advanced Education will be used to establish a volun- teer tutor program in Terrace. In the application to Secretary of State, Project Literacy Terrace stated the need for the program: *There is currently no volunteer literacy program in existence in - Terrace. *Twenty-two percent of the adult population in the Terrace area is tional units of Vitamin A as well as healthful amounts of the B-complex functionally illiterate. eMany of these people are native adults. Local students get degrees Raymond Gustave Guno and James Russell Duncan were among 2,235 graduates who received degrees from Simon Fraser University at a convocation ceremony June 7 and 8. Favourite Spinach Lasagna 1 can (398 m!) tomato sauce 1% cup V8 juice 4 tsp. each — oregano, basil, garlic powder, onion powder (or to taste) 2 eggs, slightly beaten 1 container (375 gm) dry curd cottage cheese. © “ \% tsp, salt 1 pkg. (300 gm) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained ¥% cup grated Parmesan cheese 225 gm Mozzarella cheese (or your choice), grated . 225 gm uncooked lasagna noodles, broken in half (or use mini- lasagna noodles) Combine tomato sauce, V8 juice, and seasonings. Set aside. Beat eggs in large bowl. Add cottage cheese, spinach, salt, and 4 cup Parmesan cheese. mo, -_ Oil bottom of 13x9x2’’ baking dish. Cover bottom of dish with small amount of sauce. Layer with noodles, half of cottage cheese-spinach mixture, half of Mozzarella cheese, and half of tomato sauce mixture. Repeat layers. _ Sprinkle top with remaining Parmesan cheese. Cover dish with _ lightly oiled aluminum foil. _ Bake at 350°F for one hour, or until noodles are tender. Uncover. Let stand 10 minutes.
