The G.V.R.D. cannot undertake the project under the terns of their present — available financing unless land costs can be kept down to $6,000. to $7,006. per 3. The City does not own enough Andtvigusl sites to di eburse the project into more than two or possibly. three areas whic h would result in substantially the same situation as the existing proposal. in addition, these aréas are far from schools and existing servicing which vould create , additional problens. Alderman Traboulay, in speaking to the above-noted report, commented that the City Administrator does not say the suap would not be ‘fea: ible, ‘but only that there would be a few problems. Alderman Ranger stated his reas sons for fa avouring the G.V.R.D. project are because: Consideration is given te the strons pedestrian movement in that vicinity; re of no through streets with access points; , a ‘large portion of natural vegetation: Range of house types; Self-owned will be available along with rental units; Further possibil ity for both rental and strata title under new legislation; People buying wili be ‘eligible for “governaient grants; a Density is only 12 units per acre; Complete management of the site will be undertaken by the G.V.R. D. for the life of the project. | Mr. Casson then commented that it is incumbent upon all of us to realize that traditional single family housing is now finished as people 2 are unable to afford it, and that the principle of a single family hom? means a home which will house a single family.
