From the City Clerk, March 25th, 1976, submitting copies of correspond- City Clerk re share of ence from the Railway Transport Committee of the Canadian Transport Commission, mtce. costs, etc.-CPR Xing. under date of its March 15th, 1976 letter concerning the sharing of maintenance Westwood St. (formerly costs for the C.P.R. crossing of old Highway No. 7 (now Westwood Street), and Highway #7) pointing out that when this was an arterial highway route, the Department of Highways paid 50% of the cost of maintenance and operation of automatic pro- tection at the crossing; however, now that the route has been desclassified, the City of Port Coquitiam has been asked to accept 25% of those costs. In his report, the City Clerk stated that in response to his request, the City Engineer recommended that the City accept the 25% share providing the District of Coquitlam accepts a 25% share also, and in a conversation with the Municipal Manager of the District on March 24th, 1976, he had been advised by him that he thought this a fair way to resolve the situation although the matter has not yet been considered by his Council. Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Thompson: That as recommended in a report from the City Clerk, March 25th, 1976, the City accept 25% of the annuai cost of maintenance and operation of auto- matic protection at the C.P.R. crossing on Westwood Street subject to con- currence by the District of Coquitlam. From the Senior Building Inspector, March 23rd, 1976, advising of a : Sr.Bldg.Insp. re Strata duplex strata title application received for 1432-34 Barberry Drive, and Title appln.~ drawing to Council's attention the fact that a previous application had been (duplex) - Barberry Dr. approved on March ist, 1976; however, the property was sold and new plans were submitted, Alderman Traboulay referred to a memorandum from the City Clerk, March 31st, 1976, indicating that Mr. H.C. McLeod, who resides at 1426 Barberry Drive (next door to the subject property) was very upset to learn that Council had approved the previous application; also, that Mr. Horst Pothmann, 1414 Barberry Drive - another neighbouring resident - was in at- tendance and at his request, it was agreed that Mr. Pothmann be permitted to speak to the application. Mr. Pothmann pointed out that there are a number of large multiple family developments under construction in close proximity to his home; further, that when he moved there four years ago he did not do so with the idea in mind of being surrounded by rental units, which he felt the proposed duplex would be, and on behalf of his neighbours, he requested that construction thereof not be allowed on that site.
