Moved by Alderman Gates: Seconded by’ Alderman Lakina: That while the moritorium is continued use of time to dévelop a sound: Pest Management Program using ideas and new resource contacts including a development maintenance.schedule with the use of low maintenance techniques; That the Committee gather the information to compare the economics of a standard maintenance program versus an integrated Pest Management Program’ over a five year period; That the Committee employ a suitable consultant to set up .an.IPM program and that all endeavours be made by the Environmental Protection Committee to have G.V.R.D. or other municipalities possibly share in the cost of the consultant; That if properly applied alternatives IPM methods fail, the pesticides will only be-applied as per the recommendation of the Environmental Protection Committee; That if the Committee allows the use of pesticides for specific problems signs will be posted as a precaution; AND THAT representation from local Environmental groups .an ‘the Environmental Protection Committee will help develop this integrated Pest. Management Plan. Carried.
