SUBJECT: Award of tender, Eastern Drive Watermain RECOMMENDATIONS: Award the contract for the construction of the Fastern Drive watermain to Sandpiper Contracting Ltd. for the tendered amount of $162,818.75. COMMENTS: The Eastern Drive watermain works consist of the supply and installation of approximately 513 metres of 300mm diameter ductile iron watermain, fire hydrants, service connections and appurtenances. Seven qualifying bids were received for contract. A summary of the bids including GST are as follows: Sandpiper Contracting $162,818.75 Porter Construction $169,303.00 Trascott Construction $174,915.00 Moon Construction $191,316.00 ABS Construction $194,399.00 TARGA Contracting $207,883.88 Hussey Contracting $220,463.87 The contract is funded through Capital Works with a budget of $187,000. Costs to date are: Tender 162,818.75 Engineering 22,000.00 <2 ee ewe mre cd ey tay cm ton pet oom TOTAL S$ 184,818.75 Eastern Drive has an existing 150mm C.1I. watermain between Lamprey and Oughton and a 200mm A.C. main between Oughton and Belle. Both of these sections have caused a maintenance problem with numerous breaks over the years. By increasing the size of this main to 300mm, lower headlosses will assist in raising the pressure during peak periods to the Celeste/ Elspeth area.
