Pollock, City Administrator Cel. freee rp MAY We have been dealing with a grievance with Local 498 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees concerning the position of Court Clerk, This grievance has been dealt with by Staff and a Committee of Council and has not been resolved. The Union have requested that the matter now be taken to arbitration and they have appointed a member to sit on the Board on their behalf. To permit this matter to proceed we will be required to appoint a nember and I would recommend the appointment of Mr. John Oliver, ex-City Commissioner for the City of Vancouver and an associate in the consulting firm of T.J. Plunkett and Associates. Mr.’ Oliver has done a considerable amount of this type of work for other municipalities in the Lower Mainland. .
