ever, that the bear shot was Old
Gimpy, pointing to a patch on a
rear leg of the hide that cor-
responds to where the bear had

It was an issue at sentencing,
where prosecutor Paul Kirk called
for jail time to reflect the com
munity’s ‘sense of outrage” a

senior wildlife biologist as ‘‘an
international treasure,’”
