INTER OFFICE ?fEMO TO: Mayor and Aldermen DATE: June 16th, 1972 FROM:R. A. Freeman, City Cleck . CeCe a f\ f [ a rs — Re: Port Coquitlam Cemetery By~law JUR 19 1972 The attached Cemetery By-law has been drafted as a replacement for the City's present Cemetery By-law and provides for an increase in fees as shown in Schedule "Cc" of the By-law. The present fees have been entered by hand so that Council may see the extent of the increase proposed. As the Council may be aware, all cemetery operations in the Province come under the jucisdiction of the Public Utilities Comission and our By-law has been drafted folising the model by-law provided by the Commission. In discussions with the Cemetery Officer of the Commission, it was strongly suggested to us that a new grave classific~ ation of "Child" be added and special section of the Cemetery be designated for this grave size, which is slightly smaller than a regular adult grave and is sold for a slightly reduced price. The preparation of the necessary plan and marking of the new grave size asa separate section in the Cemetery is currently underway by the Engineer- ing Nepartment. We also attach a report prepared by our Treasurer which we will be forwarding to * the Public Utilities Commission to justify the new fee schedule proposed. If Council wish to give first three readings to the By-law on Monday, the number 1192 can be assigned to the By-law. City Clerk ‘Joba attachments. SALE RE Ret ie i Wee eae
