To: The Mayor and Aldermen 0 U i ‘i MAR ~ From: Alderman Ranger March 2nd, 1972. n 4, ee Re: Mobile Homes Mobile Home living has become a way of life for an increasing number of people, and the time is past due for the group to be treated the same as all other property owners, including paying their rightful: share of school and local govern- ment taxes, and becoming eligible for the provincial homeowner grant. In pursuing -Seetion 714 of the Municipal Act 1 found very little to regulate mobile home parks. It also concerns me that the District of Coquitlam, being a member of School District #43 is now considering the establishment of a new mobile home park. There also exists the posaibility of existing mobile home parks expanding. Since more of this kind of development will certainly have an impact on the educational costs, I think it proper that we pursue this topic with rhe member councils of School District #43. 7 X propose the following resolution: WHEREAS mobile homes do not pay their share of school taxes; BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED ‘that the member municipalites of School District #43 will not allow the creation or extension of mobile home sites until such time that the Municipal Act is amended to allow the fair taxation of mobile homes.
