$1 to $2. Expensive items like wheels and kilns are the
where the savings are because they can drop $100 or
more with the exchange, but they will only raise $2 to $5
because of freight.

I would like to assure potters that we are responding
to the changing dollar, and I encourage you to check into
local prices before going to the US. Like the examples
shown, Canadian businesses need your support and are
willing to fight for it. Itis a buyers market for “big ticket”
items, so ask your retailer for a quote (and tell us that you
are shopping around), and we will do what we can to
save you from the expense and hassle of cross border
shopping.

Remember: if you buy something 1n the United States,
travel time, border waits, C.S.A. inspection, duty and
warranty fixes are all hidden extra costs which you may

not have anticipated.

Alan and Gillian McMillan have once again
organized a holiday in England, primarily for
potters.

The tour is planned for next Spring,
May 25 - June 6, 2008 and will start and end
in London.

It is scheduled at that time of year for lovely
weather and to avoid the peak season
cost.

We plan to visit the studios of Walter Keeler,
John Leach and several others, Fine Craft
Galleries and take walks around interesting
archaeological sites and castles in the West
Country.

The comfortable journey in a 24-seater
coach will take us to St. Ives, Salisbury,
Wells, Bath, the Wye Valley and Stoke-on-
Trent to see Pottery Museums and factories.

Accommodation in good quality hotels,
most meals, all transportation and alll
entrance fees are included.
