ALIGNMENT OF MARY HILL BY-PASS AT CO UITLAN RIVER

Dear Sir:

GVRD Planning and Parks staff have raised the question of alignment of this
highway connection with your Mayor who has asked us to put their comments
in writing so that your Council nay deal with the question as they see fit,

The concern is about the propesed lecation ef the Mary Hill By~pass as to
‘where it crosses the Coquitlam River and its proximity to the Fraser River
shoreline to the east end and to the west, As a result of the Fraser River
Estuary Studies, Coquitlam River Watershed Managezent Study and our Open
Space Conservacy Program objectives, ir appears clear to us that thorough
conideration must be given to locating the by-pass a reasonable distance up=
streaa from the mouth of the Coquitlam River (see attached sketch plan).*
Staff have discussed this question with municipal staf! members in Coquitlam
