TRE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM . oo Page 2... Although we have major soccer field and softball diamond coming on stream at Evergreen Park in 1979, it is very apparent that we do not have enough usable fields or diamonds. The Committee has spent considerable time over the last few months looking at possible solutions to this problem. One area looked at was Cedar Drive Park. As members of Council may be aware the soccer field is not usable after the month of October, expecially if it has been a wet fall. Our Parks Superin- tendent has indicated that the Cedar Drive Field can be improved by 75% by putting in a Herring Bone drainage system. Attached is a ‘xeport from the City Engineer, Mr. Peters, as to the elevation of the Park. The other area the Committee has looked at is the 10 acre parcel of Park land bounded by Taylor, Morgan and Brown. This area is fairly boggy, however there is one area of the park that is fairly level and not as wet as the other parts of the park. Attached are costs for _ both Cedar Drive Park and the park bounded by Morgan and Brown. The Committee would like Council to consider the following recommendations: RECOMMENDATIONS 1. That Cedar Drive Park be upgraded immediately. That a soccer field and softball diamond be created at Brown and Morgan; .and furthermore that a cost be brought back to Council at a later date for thedevelopment of an adventure playground and - passive area. That monies for Cedar Drive Park and Brown/Morgan be taken from ‘the Parks Reserve Fund. Respectfully submitted: ny Recreation Director JT/km£
