Campbell reporting on his attendance at the March Mayor Campbell report-Mar. { 3lst, 1976 meeting of the Greater Vancouver Regional District, and 31/76 GVRD meeting advising that: a) the Hospital Budget was accepted; b) the Regional District's budget was accepted by a vote of 29 to 27. Mayor Campbell, in his report, also advised that the Planning Budget has been cut twice and that he believes it is now acceptable. Teta ay Tansee 4 A discussion ensued, and to Alderman Ranger's query, Mayor Campbell martina: advised that the Regional District has decided to lease pollution monitoring equipment, and that he would endeavour to make arrangements tomorrow to have such equipment made available to the City to monitor smoke pollution caused by developers burning at construction sites. Alderman Thomspon : | j inquired how the G.V.R.D. became involved in transit, and Mayor Campbell advised this was done at the request of certain municipalities. Mayor Campbell then agreed to a request from Alderman Mabbett to obtain the number of planning personnel hired by the G.V.R.D. about a year ago. Alderman Keryluk referred to the sum of $4,510,000.00 spent on park acquisition, and stated his view that it was a bad year to be spending so much money for that vurpose; further, in referring to the Newman Creek condonminium development locatad just East of Lions Bay, he stated his concern with respect to the problem of sewage dispnsal, and Mayor Campbell advised this will go through a treatment plant. Alderman Laking, in response to the item of park acquisition mentioned by Alderman Keryluk, advised that this is according to a plan devised 5 years ago based on a rate of .3 wills, which has remained unchanged; however, although it may be possible te forestall park development, it will be necessary to do some maintenance work in Capilano Park, Sasamat Lake and the lake in Aldergrove Park. Mayor Campbell then agreed to Alderman Traboulay's request to ascertain the amount of monies expended by the G.V.R.D. on public relations with respect to the printing of publications.
