July 10th, 1978, Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Ranger: That as recommended by the Leisure Activities Committee, July 7th, 1978 Cedar Drive Park be upgraded immediately; AND THAT the monies for upgrading Cedar Drive Park be allocated from the Parks Acquisition Fund. Carried. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution Alderman Laking explained the proposed changes to the Cedar Drive Park and a short discussion ensued. From the Leisure Activities Committee, July 7th, 1978 recommending that a soccer field and softball diamond be created at Brown and Morgan and that the monies for the soccer field and softball diamond be taken from the Parks Acquisition Fund. Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Ranger: That as recommended by the Leisure Activities Committee, July 7th, 1978 a soccer field and softball diamond be created at Brown and Morgan; AND THAT the monies for the soccer field and softball diamond be allocated from the Parks Acquisition Fund. Carried. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution Alderman Laking explained the proposed development and advised that the Leisure Activities Committee further recommended that a cost be brought back to Council at a later date for the development of an adventure playground and passive area. Alderman Laking further advised the City would be applying for government grants for the new soccer field and softball diamond. Discussion then ensued. Alderman Ranger asked that drainage for the area be checked and Alderman Traboulay asked about possible lighting for the soccer field. NEW BUSINESS: Alderman Ranger asked for clarification on the increased number of patients transported as mentioned in the Fire Department Report of Juae, 1978. Alderman Traboulay advised he will look into this and report back to Council.
