MEMBERS FROM: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, U.B.C.M. a a JUN 2 3 1975 Dear Sirs: URGENT We have been informed today that a series of public hearings on a variety of matters xelating to mobile homes will be held throughout the Province in the next few weeks. The matters under review at these public hearings will include: » the desirability of a registry of mobile homes - construction standards highway transportation of such homes merchandising practices relationshivs between owners of mobile homes and mobile hone park operators in texms of the “landlord - tenant" aspects. taxation of mobile homes, the Home Owner Grant, the Home Acquisition Grant, etc., and other relevant legislation. ; The Hearings will be held undex the chairmanship of Mr, Michael Audain, and are being held under the auspices of a multi-Departmental group representing several Departments of the Provincial Government. . The U.B.C.M. President has advised the Honourable Lorne Nicolson of her view that such ‘short notice of the public hearings (listed below) makes it very difficult for the views of local Councils and Boards te be placed before the Commission, and has indicated that it is umreasonable to expect a full res= ponse from all affected minicipalities and regional districts within the time framework set out. This information is brought to your notice so that as many municipal Councils and regional district Boards es possible might consider whether they wish _to present their views on mobile hemes and related matters during the Public - Hearings.
