wun GOUN Mr. B. R. Kirk DATE: June 26, 1990 City Administrator File No. 80/88 & 19/90 4 YUL Q - 1909 Carlos Felip Director of Planning Rezoning and Official Community Plan Amendment Applications. 4637, 1669. 1711 Mary Hill Road. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the recommendations contain in the memorandum ef May 4, 1990 to the City Administrator from the Director of Planning, copy attached, be approved, with the following revisions to recommendation No 2: 2. The “Shaughnessy Lands Neighbourhood Plan" be received and the Planning Department be instructed to use it as a reference in developing an Area Control Plan, in due time, based on the attached drawing titled “Shaughnessy Lands Concept Plan", Option "3-a''.. DISCUSSION: On May 14, 1990 the Municipal Council tabled a decision on the referenced rezoning an Official Community Plan Amendment, pending a revision of the Concept Plan for the area south of Pitt River Road and west of Mary Hill Road. Council was particularly concerned about protecting a trail running generally from the corner of Stratforr; Avenue and Shaughnessy Street, south to Mary Hill Road. Municipal crews surveyed the actual location of the Said trail. Based on that information, the applicants have Prepared a preliminary concept that would leave the trail at the center of a thirty metre undisturbed area. This width should suffice to preserve the natural setting for the trail. The trail is completely within Municipal owned land, and therefore it would be up to the Municipality to ensure that the integrity of the Concept Plan, and the trail, is maintained when the surrounding lands develop. With the revisions noted above, it would now be in order for Council to approve the recommendations contained in the attached memorandum dated May 4, 1990. CF/sd ID 310-14
