Trust wat An ¢dmportant ingredient in this serie=s of
cone O4 one-step fired bas reliet clay wall panels. rT
was drawing and paimting on clay. However. unm 1 tbe
rendering «@ drawing on paper, tt was necessary for me
to Jump in — leek at the figure, make some marks ane
brush strokes, to mantpulate the clay form, Pour |r
Powdered stains and sands, without having a sense of
certainty that the Fftring weuld yiedTd what lt smw.
Through these direct responses tae a medel, I began to
trust my ability to look, See, ‘te Peesrt Interpret the
essence of the human in front of me rather than what I
thought was there.

I have inereased the size sf the work at least two
times to thea 17 =x 22 x 3/4 anch range, and this scale
change has allowed me to use larger brush strekes of
eolour, to use my fingers as tools, to a&chieve a
greater aaense of three dimensionality -

Suggest & setting, narrative or moaod.

Some of the figures appear as 1F at a cocreseroad=
tentatively cansidering entering a passage or opening
te the light oer to another reality. Perhaps they, too,
area im transformation.
