Te: Library Location Study OCT i 1973

I was asked to locate the name of a consultant to provide the City with a report on

Library. location and size, etc. I have the names of two consulting firms that could do a

complete report on ‘this subject; in additicn, I have had two names referred to me by the

. Library Developmént Commission of individuals who could do a basic report covering:

i. the best location for the library

_2., the recommended size of the facility

3. the type of service that.a Library should provide within the ‘Community , that is, what

additional facility should be included 4a the design ~ for example, meeting rooms, etc..

“I have contacted one of the. people recommended, a Mr. Brian Bacon from Burnaby and he

ee has indicated he would do such a study on a per diem basis. The cost of the study would

vary depending on how much information is available from City records; however, he estimates

that it should not exceed $1,000.00. The study can be financed from the City's planning

budget.

I. would recommend that we engage Mr. Bacon to do the study at a cost not to exceed

~ $1,000.00.
