THE CORFORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM C 0 t \ C _ | REPORT APR 12 1976 TO: Mayor and Council April 9th, 1976 FROM: Public Works Conmittee Report of the Public Works Conmittee meeting held Friday, March 19th, 1976 at 4:30 p.m. In Attendance: Alderman E.W. Mabbett Alderman M.A. Thompsoi, V.G. Borch, P.Eng. Respectfully Submitted: Item I , (a. Re: Intermunicipal Streets ee ee ee rete en atte nin a tb esata Attached hereto please find the following; a Report, dated March Ist, for the Mayor and Council from the Public Works Committee, and a Proposed Policy for Division of Responsibility dated February 23rd, 1976. At the Council meeting of March 8th, 1976 the following resolution was passed: "That as recommended in a Report from the Public Works Committee, March Ist, 1976 the proposed "Policy for Division of Responsibility for Maintenance and Improvement of Inter-Municipal Boundary Roads Between the District of Coquitlam and the City of Port Coquitlam" dated February 23rd, 1976, be approved as to Maintenance only and that the said Policy be referred back to the Committee for further review with respect to Capital Works," The requested review has been carried out and the Committee would point out the following: 1. The Proposed Policy attached has been accepted by the District of Coquittam. 2. We understand that the District will] be requesting consideration be given to the re-construction of Victoria Drive. Traffic counts have been taken on Victoria Drive and the peak-hour volume is less than 100 and the total traffic per day varied between 500 and 600 vehicles. In addition, there ts underground work, such as watermain replacement, that should be carried out before reconstruction and paving are considered. Therefore, the Committee feels the requested work on Victoria Drive is premature. 3. Traffic counts were carried out on Oxford Street at Lincoln and at the Cemetery. The peak-hour volume at Lincoln is approximately 120 vehicles and the daily volume is almost 1000 vehicles. The peak-hour volume at the Cemetery is 9 vehicles and the daily voiume is fess than 100 vehicles. It was suggested that Oxford Street is not important to the District of Coquitlam in comparison to its importance to the City and the above counts confirm this. eseon 2
