THE CORPORATION OF TEE CITE OF PORT COQUITLAM PARKS AND RECREATION COMYITTEE of the Parks and Recreation Committee was held in the port Coquitlam Recreation Office on Wednesday, Yarch 7th. In attendance were Alderman Keryluk, Alderman Farnworth, Stewart and K. Janna Taylor, Parks S Recreation Director. Alderman A meeting CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES That the minutes of the meeting of the Parks s Recreation held on Wednesday, February 22nd, be taken as read and adopted. Item No. 1 Carried P.C.A.A.A. Awards The Committee discussed the attached letter from P.C.A.A.A. and that was necessary to bring felt it back the policy on awards to the next Committee meeting before a decision was made. Notion: To table the decision on P,C,A.A.A. letter until the March 21st Committee meeting. Carried Item No. 2 Arena — Fire Drill P.C.A.A.A., at the March 6th, 1984, meeting wanted to know if a fire drill could be held at the arena. Janna Taylor contacted the Fire Chief, Jim Boileau, who indicated that P.C.A.A.A. should write a letter to Doug Madden, Fire Prevention Officer, outlining what they wish in terms of a fire drill, i.e. time and date. The Chief indicated that there would be no problem in having one. Motion the Parks & Recreation Director write to P.C.A.A.A. asking them to write a letter to Doug Madden, Fire Prevention 'hat Officer, outlining their request. Item No. 3 Carried Security In Arena P.C.A.A.A. at their Tuesday night meeting, expressed concerns in regard to security at the arena. Continued. BAR Item No. 3 (Cont'd.) Notion: To write to P .C.A.A .A. and have them outline exactly what their concerns are in terms of security at the PoCo Recreation Centre. Carried Item No. 4 1984 Nay Day Update Janna Taylor reported that the Kinsmen wi 11 be organizing the Bed Race on Sunday, the Lions Club will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast at George Pearkes on Sunday and P .C.A.A.P . will be co-ordinating the Family Sports Day at the George Pearkes School on Sunday also. The above events, in conjunction with the Penny Carnival and the Arts Festival, complete the schedule for Sunday. Sherry Anderson is the float designer and will be meeting with the PoCo Nigh School shop teacher, who has indicated a great interest in constructing the float with some of his students.
