[2] vary rom Community to Community, some ranging from a 6 Loot dash to 30 feet between. I have made rather e:teansive inquiries of the Provincial Highways Departrent crews and chey aszure me that as the dashes and spaces are now metered it would be no problem to change the metered distances to whatever seened practical, f am therefore proposing that the dash and space be a uniform 20 feet long on all Provincial Highways and that all Municipalities in our Province adopt a simiiar uniform spacing in dighway marking. The 20 foot distance was arrived at as a figure relative to the , approximately length of an American or Canadian Car. The lines have to be painted regardlass, why not do it in a uniform manner that can greatly assist drivers in tudging distance. I have personally tried this method assuming that the dash and space were a car length. It doesn't take very long to be able to adjust to this method of judging distance. On winding roads or solid lines a small cross-bar can be painted every 40 feet. I undexstand this can be achieved by simply attaching another spray mechanism to the already existing spray machines. As a point of interest, of all the people that I questioned only one person knew the "space - dash" length on Provincial Highways, none wera aware of the length from area area and without exception each person thought it was a good idea.
