CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM — GENERAL REMARKS

The Animal Control Facility functioned extremely well during the month of
May.

The number of complaints, 38, making a total for the year to date of 167
shows a marked decrease as opposed to that of 1976.

The number of animals impounded has increased, however, the number of
animals claimed to those impounded has shown a slight decrease for the
year to date. The one refreshing statistic is that the number of animals
being destroyed as being surplus to human requirements has shown a marked
decrease,

Attached hereto is a copy of the editorial contained in the Dallas Times
Werald, Thursday, May 19, 1977. The Vancouver Regional Branch has been
approached by the City of Dallas to assist in the revision and implementation
of the animal control procedures as practiced by the Vancouver Regional Branch
of the BCSPCA in conjunction with the majority cf the municipalities in the
Lower Mainland. Dr. Colin Collin represented the Branch on this particular
occasion, there will be future meetings.
