May 5th, 1975 agreed with the idea of rental accommodation and that he intended to support the motion with the addition of the following amendment he then proposed: Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the foregoing proposed resolution be amended byseparating the words "to" and "approval" where they appear therein by a paragraph and inserting the figure "1." in front of the word "approval"; and by adding the following as a second condition: "2. firm assurance that there is/will be ample school accommodation." Carried. A further discussion ensued and Alderman Mabbett inquired whether the units could be changed to strata title from rental after two years. The City Engineer advised that under the present legislation, if the application was made two years from now, strata titling would require the approval of the Council. Alderman Traboulay stated his concern with respect to adequate school accommodation, and suggested no occupancy be permitted until such time as school accommodation is provided. Alderman Ranger stated he felt underground parking would provide better security, and Alderman Laking stated he would like to see the density reduced from 18 to about 14 units per acre. Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That the original motion of Aldermen Laking and Keryluk be amended adding the following words at the ead thereof: "and limiting the density to a maximum of 14 units per acre." Prior to the question being called on the foregoing proposed amendment, Alderman Ranger commented that he was going to vote against the motion because he did not feel the density could be reduced and still improve the services, and Alderman Laking stated that he wished to withdraw his motion. The question was then called on the motion of Aldermen Laking and Keryluk, as amended: That as recommended in a report from the Planning & Zoning Committee, May dst, 1975, Application R#15/75 be approved for development under a Land Use Contract, Subject to: 1. approval of final development plans and approval of the City Engineer on servicing.
