! oy i ; 4 oon | | 1 January 3lst, 1977 Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, a discussion ensued, and Alderman Traboulay advised of a white, one-ton truck that has been parked continuously for 37 days in the City’s parking lot at the rear of the Royal Bank building on Shaughnessy Street, and to his suggestion that the similar regulations as those proposed for Salisbury Avenue be posted at that facility and the other City parking lot East of the Underpass, immediately South of Kingsway Avenue, Alderman Thompson advised that the Public Works Committee would welcome his or any thoughts of other Council members on the downtown parking situation prior to a review and meeting thereon with the Downtown Merchants. From the Public Works Committee, January 28th, 1977, referring to a meeting recently held with the Department of Highways to discuss access to Chester Street from the residences West of Chester, and advising that as part of the Lougheed--Shaughnessy intersection improvement, a raised centre median will be constructed North to Fraser Avenue. The Committee, in its report, further advised that the Department of Highways recommends the Manning Avenue access to the relocated Chester Street be cut off and that a street be constructed from Manning to Fraser on property owned by the City, with the Department of Highways to pay the estimated cost of $4,000.00 to the City to construct the street. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Thompson: That the construction of a road as far West as possible, between Manning and Fraser Avenues, at the expense of the Department of Highways, be approved in principle. Carried. From the Public Works Committee, January 28th, 1977, referring to the amount of $270,000.00 in the 1977 Provisional Budget for reconstruction of Chester Street from Fraser to Prairie and Prairie Avenue from Chester to Flint to arterial street standards, and stating it is felt that whether or not all the work is approved this year, it is essential that a storm sewer installation on Chester Street should be completed before the Lougheed-Shaughnessy intersection is constructed to the point where northbound traffic is diverted to the Chester Street route. The Committee, in its report, further stated that it appears an area bounded on the North by Prairie and on the East by Oxford can be drained to the Coquitlam River, with part of this overall system requiring a 42-inch diameter storm sewer on Fraser West of Chest.r and a 21-inch diameter storm sewer /7.
