Fires in outbuildings were in each case abandoned buildings with no value attached. Two fires rerorted to the fire department which caused approximately $1,000.00 danage. One a frying pan - ,caught fire burning cupboards and the other to a plastic lamp which caught ‘fire in a rumpus room. In each case the fire department was not called, 28 inhalator calls with 3 calls involving children being hit by cars while “riding bicycles; 3 calls tc children having serious falls; 8 motor vehicle -accidents. One where two men were injured seriously and a cutting torch was used to remove them from the wreckage. Five home emergencies consisting of heart attacks, seizures, a man choking on food, convulsions and diabetic attacks. Three calls to men found unconscious and in each case it was found to be caused by over indulgance in alcohol. Two overdoses and 1 construction accident. . The fire department was able to participate in the May Day Parade by placing /an inhalator and fire pumper on the north Side and the rest of the equipment brought up the rear of the parade. We had two calls, one just prior to the parade and one just during completion of the parade; we had no problems getting to either one. Inspections: 24 chimneys, 4 oil burners, 2 propane installations, 7 buildings under the halls regulations and 52 other public buildings, Received 50 applications for the two new positions advertised for, one for fire fighter and one for fire prevention and training officer.
