A yea pre MEMORANDUM re cree eee TO: Mayor and Aldermen December 18th, 1978 FROM: R.A, Freeman, City Clerk Rene ta Re: "City of Port Coquitlam Zoning By-law, 1978, Wo. 1628", The above noted by-law is the City's uaw Zoning By-law and we are advised that all necessary approvals from the Provincial Department of Highways and the Provincial Department of Municipal 4ffairs have been obtained and it is now possible for the by-law to receive final reading, This can be accomplished by passage of the following resolution: "That By-law no. 1628 be recousidered, finally passed and adopted," Passage of the above noted resolution by Council will mear, of course, that the present Zoning By-law, No. 918, and all by~laws passed in amendment thereto will be repealed. It therefore seems uppropriate that some short histerical reference should be made to By-law No. 918 as with its demise most staff members ~ and probably certain Council members as well - will feel like they have lost an old friend. By-law No. 918 came into effect over 9 1/2 years ago on June 9th, 1969 and was the Main instrument used by Council In regu. lating the City's growth since that date. Some ides of the activity that has occurred in the City over that period will be realized when one considers that 127 by~laws amending the Zoning By-law were passed and that another 25 amendments wace started but not completed for one Yeason or another. A further nine Zoning Amendment 3y-laws are still in process, : Additionally, the Statutory provisions for land use contracts were instituted and terminated while By-law No. 918 was in effect and there were actually 24 land use Contracts passed; three commenced but not completed; four still in Process at this date: and two land use contracts were amended, We trust that this short historical report will he of interast to Council members. . 3 Tevers wine 23 4s met 1 ba: R.A.
