That just leaves our Summer Games team, set for action at Coquitlam starting July 26. Late in June minor baseball finished off with "Appreciation Night" on the 22nd at the Terrace Inn. On Wednesday the 26th, it was wind up night for Rookie and Bambino divisions. Then on the 27th, Junior and Senior divisions moved over to Rotary Park to finish off their local seasons. As a result she has asked for the money currently budgeted for maintenance by the city to be turned over to Youth Soccer so they can take over the maintenance themselves. According to Ball, the fields at Christy Park are a "valuable com- munity resource" that will only “retain their value if they are properly cared for. She points out: "In the agreement between Terrace Youth Soccer Association and the City of Terrace of 7th April 1989, the city agreed that the *upkeep and maintenance will be to a stan- ffs for minor baseball equipment. Andre and Debbie Jean are umpire-in-chief and secretary. Rita Armstrong will be in charge of Rookie, and Mary Nichols heads to Bambino divisions next year. The Juniors will be under Anna Lang. dard that the fields are in top qual- ity tournament condition at all . times’." But she adds: "This, sadly, is not the case." Ball acknowledges that "parks crews have a fairly large workload at this time of the yeat" but notes that the summer months are ‘the only time of the year the fields need to be maintained. For this reason, she says, the association would like to have a "grant in lieu of maintenance". When questioned by city alder- men, Ball said it was not their intention take on maintenance work themselves, but to subcon- tract the work through a tendering process. The Youth Soccer propo- sal will be discussed at the July 15 city council Committee of the Whole meeting with soccer, city and parks representatives present. t’s Time for a Chan ge | all CLOTHING in stock 20% OFF and SUPPLEMENTS 10 15 SUN BED IN TOWN THE HOTTEST sessions for $39.00 sessions for $49.00 For Men, Women and Children Zee USAe we } heal GYM MEMBERSHIP TRONWORKS = Where you cal Tone, Tan & Tailor your body!
