Westminster Land Registry office on May 26th, 1972 under No. H50991 be
and the same is hereby cancelled and released;

AND THAT His Worship the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute
the necessary Quit Claim Deed for the purpose aforesaid on behalf of the
City and to affix the corporate seal thereto.

CORRESPONDENCE:

From Alan H. Emmott, Chairman, Greater Vancouver Regional District,
February 13th, 1981 requesting Mayor Laking’s support in the formation of |
an economic development department within the Greater Vancouver Regional
District. Alderman Wright spoke in favour of the proposal and Aldermen
Mabbett, Traboulay and Keryluk expressed their opposition. Alderman
Muldoon inquired concerning the duties of the economic development depart-
ment and Mayor Laking advised that its main duty was to provide information

to persons seeking to establish industries within the Greater Vancouver

Regional District and he stated that he was in favour of the establishment

of such a department.

Moved by Alderman Traboulay:

Seconded by Alderman Gates:

That the proposal of the Chairman, Greater Vancouver Regional District,
as outlined in his letter to Mayor Laking of February 13th, 1981 for the
establishment of a Regional Economic Development Agency within the Greater

Vancouver Regional District be denied.

Carried.
Mayor Laking and Aldermen Wright and Muldoon voted against the
resolution.

REPORTS:

From the Finance Committee, February 18th, 1981 being a Statement of
Accounts Payable in the amount of $608,211.01.
