To them in their ‘piana world’ came the music of the instrument, filling all the dark spaces with wonderful sound and ) harmony. At first, the mice were impressed by it. They drew com- §\)fort and wonder from the thought that there was Someone who made the music — though invisible to them —- above, yet close to them. And they loved to think of the Great Player whom they could not see, “Then one day, a very daring mouse climbed up part of the plano and returned very thought- fully. He had found owt how the music was made. Wires were the secret; tautly stretched wires of various lengths which trembled and vibrated! They must revise all their old beliefs! None but the most conservative and old-fashion- s;ed could any longer believe in the Unseen Player. “Later, another intrepid explor: er came back with further explan- ation, Hammers were now the secret; numbers of hammers danc- ing and leaping on the wires! .Now this was a very complicated theory — a theory which only the most scholarly mice could fully compre- hend, But it all went to show that they lived in a purely mechanical and mathematical world. The Un- seen Player soon came to be thought of as a myth, But the mu- sician continued to play the plano!” {Author unknown) Now hear the word of the Lord: “Now the holy anger of God is disclosed fram Heaven against the godlessness and evil of those men who render truth dumb and in- ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION Dispatch by Paul Bogelund The Legion is again this year offering bursaries and scholar- ships to students who are children of veterans and who meet the edu- ealional requirements. Sermon CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH operative by their wicKedness. It is not that they do not know the truth about God; indeed He hag made it quite plain to them. For since the beginning of the world the invisible attributes of God, (e.g. His eternal power and divin- ity,) have been plainly discernible through things which He has made and which are commonly seen affd known, thus leaving these men without a rag of excuse, They knew all the time there is a God, yet they refused to acknowledge Him as such, or to thank Him for what He is or does. Thus they he- came fatuous in their argumenta- tions, and plunged their silly minds still further into the dark. “Behind a front of ‘wisdom’ they heeame just fools, fools who would exchange the glory of the immor- tal God for an imitation image of a mortal man, or of creatures that run or fly or crawl. They gave up God: and therefore God gave them up — to be the playthings of their own foul desires in dishonoring their own bodies. These men de- liberately forfeited the truth of God and accepted a lie, paying homage and giving service to the creature instead of to the Creator, who alone is worthy to be worship ped for ever and ever, Amen.” Romans 1:18-23 Sparks, Street at Straume Avenue Rev.
