TO; Mayor & Council May 19th, 1972 FROM: L. D. Pollock, City Administrator G (} i ni C: 1. Re: U.B.C.M. Annual Dues-— v Ad 23 197 The Annual Dues for the Union of British Columbia Municipalities have not yet been dealt with. The dues are based on population and the current charges based on our old census figure with 10% added to take care of population growth. Our dues for 1972 amount to $1,143.00. The Finance Committee have reviewed the account and feel that we should continue membership in this organization. We have a number of resolutions before the Association this year and as we wili no doubt be attending the Conference which is in Vancouver this year the Committee felt that membership should be maintained. A resolution to authorize payment of this fee would be in order. Fire Prevention Officers' Seminar- The hiring of a Fire Prevention Officer for the Fire Department was authorized in the 1972 Budget. Also included in the Fire Chief's submission was a sum to send the Fire Prevention Officer to a seminar. We have received notification that the Association's seminar will be held in Penticton on June 6-9th, 1972. The Fire Prevention Officer's position has been posted and if we are successful in filling the position before June 6th the Fire Chief would like to have the authority to send the delegate to this seminar.
