Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by. Alderman Laking: That City Council adopt the name Mansfield Crescent for the unnamed road north of Lynwood Avenue. Carried. From the City Clerk, February 5th, 1982 regarding the renaming of Victoria Drive. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Vater: That as previously recommended by the Planning and Development Committee the name "Apel Drive” be assigned to that part of Victoria Drive travelling in a northeast, southwest direction between Coast Meridian Road and Victoria Drive. Carried. From the Recreation Director, February 15th, 1982 regarding the 1982 May Day Celebrations. Moved by Alderman Wright: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That: 1. The program as outlined by the May Day Committee, be approved; 2. That the budget of $20,690.00 for the 1982 May Day be approved; That the cost of upgrading the float be investigated with a report back to Council for the February 22nd, 1982 meeting; That the parade route be approved as presented. Aldermen Muldoon and Gates voted against the resolution. Prior to the question being called on the foregoing resolution Alderman Gates expressed concern vegarding the "Miss Port Coquitlam" contest deterring from the May Day Queen and suggested that it be deleted from the May Day plans. Moved by Alderman Gates: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the "Miss Port Coquitlam" contest be deleted from the May Day plans. Defeated, Aldermen Muldoon, Gates and Laking voted in favour of the resolution.
