August 26th, 1974 A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chamber, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2272 McAllister Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B. C., on August 26th, 1974, at 7:30 p.m. Acting-Mayor Alderman G.R. Laking, Aldermen G.R. Keryluk, E.W. Mabbett, and L.M. Traboulay in attendance. @ Also in attendance were Chief Administrative Officer L.D. Pollock, City Clerk R.A. Freeman, Assistant City Engineer D.N. Lockwood, P. Eng., Recreation Director Janna Taylor, Fire Chief W.S. Wingrove, Works & Utilities Superintendent G. Ulmer, and Mrs. B.M. Aalten. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Noved by Alderman Keryluk: Minutes - Aug.12/74 Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That the minutes of the regular meeting of this Council held on August 12th, 1974, be taken as read and adopted, Carried. Prior te passage of the above-stated resolution, Alderman Mabbett pointed out that on Page 13 the word "now" where it appears on the fifteenth line thereof should read "not", and it was agreed that this change be made. DELEGATIONS : The City Clerk advised that Mr. Harold T. Routley was in attendance this even H.T.Routley re drainage ing to speak to the drainage problem in the 1900 block Fraser Avenue and surroun- problem-190 Fraser Ave. ding area, and on invitation of Acting-Mayor Alderman Laking, Mr. Routley advised area that no further work has been done in that area by Gity crews since a drainage problem arose in January of this year. Mr. Routley mentioned that a neighbour has had to have a pump installed to keep the water away from her furnace, and sta- ted he felt something should be done about the drainage problem in that area. Alderman Keryluk inquired what Mr. Routley envisaged as a possible solution to the problem, and Mr. Routley suggested that the ditches should be cleaned for one thing, as the culverts are not functioning properly. Alderman Keryluk inquired whether the culverts were partially blocked, and Mr. Routley replied "yes, definitely". Alderman Mabbett commented that back in January, the City Engineer requested he be advised of any weak areas in the City so that work could be carried out to upgrade them, and he stated he had personally mentioned the area under discussion to him. Alderman Laking advised that he and Mayor Campbell had met with Mr. Routley and others right at the time the problem arose, and that the Mayor had assured Mr. Routley there would be something done about it; however, he advised that after the “atter was referred to the Public Works he did not “now what progress had been made, Alderman Keryluk stated this is the first time he had heard of the problem, and that the item has never been brought to the attention of the Public Works Committee.
