A vote was then taken upon the question "Shall the Chair be sustained?"
and was decided in the affirmative on the following division:

A discussion then ensued. and prior to passage of the resolution
adopting the City Engineer's recommendations, members of Council engaged
in a discussion and members of Council present at last week's Council
meeting re-stated their positions. His Worship the Mayor and Alderman

Mabbett, who had been absent from last week's Council meeting, indicated

that they were in favour of the Public Works Committee's recommendations.

CORRESPONDENCE AND PETITIONS:

From the Columbus Charities Association, January 15th, 1975, requesting
permission to conduct a Shamrock Tag Day in the City on March 13th,
14th, and 15th, 1975.

That the request of Columbus Charities Association, January 15th,
1975, for permission to conduct Tag Days inr’the City on March 13th,
14th, and 15th, 1975, be approved. Carried.
REPORTS:

From His Worship Mayor J.M. Campbell, January 29th, 1975, referring
to the Board meeting of the Greater Vancouver Regional Pustrict held on
January 29th, 1975, and advising, for information, with vtespect to
matters concerning the proposed Greater Vancouver Regional District

building, the Hospital Advisory Board, and the Joint Sewer and Water

Committee.

From Alderman E.W. Mabbett, December 30th, 1974, suggesting that,

as a trial, speed bumps be installed in the lane on the West side of
Shaughnessy Street between Whyte Avenue and Elgin Avenue as a serious

situation presented itself in that location and the traffic needed to be

slowed down.

That the City's Engineering Department be instructed to install
adequate speed “umps in the lane on the West side of Shaughnessy Street

between Whyte Avenue and Elgin Avenue. Carried.
Aldermen Ranger, Laking, and Thompson voted against the resolution.
