SUBJECT: Council Indemnity

RECOMMENDATION:

That the attached bylaw be forwarded to Council for their
consideration. ;

BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:

The bylaw reflects an increase of $1,275 for the Mayor and $390.
for each of the Aldermen.

As outlined in the bylaw the indemnities proposed are:

1982 1983

Mayor $25,500 $26,775
Alderman $ 7,800 $ 8,190

A quick check on adjacent municipalites shows the following:

Mayor - Alderman

Coquitlam $33,228* $ 9,736
Port Moody $27,570 $ 9,317
Maple Ridge $24,000 $ 9,600**

* Plus $5,500 to a registered xetirement plan.

** Plus $2,400 to one Alderman who is Acting Mayor.
