In accord with its customary procedure the British Columbia
Telephone Company has forwarded to this City a complete copy of its
submission to the Canadian Radio Television Telecommunications Commission
requesting permission to increase its rates. This submission is available
in the City Clerk’ Office for review by any interested person. Information
on the monthly rates that would result from approval. of the application is
reproduced on the reverse side of this memorandum.

The Telephone Company proposes that an interim increase become
effective on June lst, 1980 and if the Council wishes to comment on this
interm increase such comments must be received by the C.R.T.C. by April
21st, 1980. The general rate increase is proposed to be effective December
17th, 1980 but a final date for the receiving of submissions on this aspect

of the application has not yet been set.
